Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety Shows Up in Many Ways

Anxiety can feel like restlessness in your body, a mind that won’t quiet down, or a constant sense that something could go wrong. You might carry a tight knot of worry in your chest or feel on edge much of the time. Perhaps sleepless nights leave you exhausted yet unable to slow down. In other moments you might feel numb, shut down by the intensity of your own thoughts.

If any of that sounds familiar you are not broken. Anxiety is a common, human response to stress, fear, and uncertainty. It can make small tasks feel overwhelming or make the future seem heavy and unpredictable.

The good news is that you do not have to stay stuck in the cycle of worry. Therapy offers a space to pause, understand what lies beneath the anxiety, and begin to move toward a life that feels steadier and more grounded.

Anxiety Shows Up in Many Ways

You do not have to fit a checklist to deserve support. Anxiety can be loud or quiet. It can emerge in big moments or grow slowly over time. It can be triggered by major life events, trauma, chronic stress, or even high expectations.

You might be experiencing:

  • A buzzing or racing mind that is hard to calm down
  • Muscle tension, shallow breathing or a sense of tightness in your body
  • Constant worry about the future or “what if” scenarios
  • Sleep difficulties or the feeling that rest is always just out of reach
  • Avoidance of certain places or situations to avoid triggering anxiety
  • Emotional exhaustion from managing worry all day
  • Feeling disconnected from your own calm, from rest, or from clarity

If any of that resonates you are not failing. Anxiety is not a personal weakness. It is a real and painful experience that you do not have to navigate alone.

How Therapy Can Help

Anxiety often brings fear, tension, and overwhelm. Therapy offers a compassionate space to be truly seen and heard without judgment. Together we will explore how and why anxiety shows up, and find ways to move through it in ways that feel manageable and healing.

In therapy we might:

  • Map what your anxiety looks like specifically for you
  • Notice the patterns and triggers that keep you stuck
  • Gently explore past wounds, beliefs, or expectations that feed your worries
  • Learn tools for grounding, breathing, and easing physical tension
  • Practice shifting your relationship to thoughts and feelings so they are less overwhelming
  • Build strategies to bring calm, clarity, and ordinary joy back into your life

My Approach to Treating Anxiety

This work is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and curiosity. I weave together several therapeutic approaches to meet you exactly where you are:

  • Narrative Therapy helps us explore the stories you believe about worry, safety, and control. Often anxiety comes from internalized messages like “I must always be prepared” or “What if something goes wrong.” Together we can notice those stories and begin to rewrite ones that allow for ease, rest, and trust.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) supports you in making room for your thoughts and emotions instead of resisting or avoiding them. It helps you act in alignment with your values even when anxiety is present.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) guides you in connecting with your emotions and understanding what your body and mind are trying to tell you. Anxiety often shuts down emotional connection with self and others. EFT can help gently open that pathway again.

All of this is held through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing that past pain, loss, or overwhelm may still shape how safe and steady you feel today. Every part of your experience is welcome here.

You Deserve Ease and Safety

If anxiety has left you tense, restless, or feeling like you can never settle you do not have to carry that alone. You do not need to explain everything or apologize for your feelings. What matters most is that you are here and considering a next step.

Therapy will not erase your emotions or wipe away every stressor. But it can help you feel more grounded, secure, and able to move through life with a greater sense of possibility. You can learn to relate to anxiety with care instead of fear.
